What is the “Consent to Settle” clause?
Ultimately it is your decision to accept Zurich’s
recommendation. Zurich will not settle a professional liability claim without
your consent. Whatever your decision, we are here to support you and to help
protect you through it all. If you have any concerns throughout the claims
process or would like to speak with a PLIT Trust Veterinarian, please reach out
to the PLIT!
Does my policy cover my professional fees?
While your professional liability policy does cover expenses
to make your client whole again after a covered loss (e.g. animal market value,
medical expenses incurred at a specialty or emergency clinic), it doesn’t cover
everything. For example, your professional fees that your client would normally
pay to you are not covered. Why? Because this is a third-party liability policy
that covers losses to your client (the third party), it does not reimburse you
for lost veterinary fees at your practice.
