Mobile Practitioners

Mobile practices face similar exposures as fixed location practitioners and essentially require the same products. In addition to professional liability, a mobile practitioner should secure commercial package, commercial auto, workers' compensation, and employment practices liability. Each product protects an ambulatory practitioner.

Business Insurance
The PLIT-sponsored package policy has been developed specifically to meet the unique practice insurance needs of veterinarians. The policy is designed to help keep your practice open so you can serve your clients.

Workers’ Compensation
Your employees are the strength of your business. You’ll spend a great deal of time hiring and training them. Secure workers’ compensation coverage from an insurer that will treat your employees fairly and get them back to work as soon as they’re able.

Employment Practices Liability
Would you practice veterinary medicine without malpractice or fire insurance? If you answered no—you should secure employment practices liability (EPL) insurance immediately because it is just as important to a practice owner. EPL coverage responds to allegations such as wrongful termination, discrimination and sexual harassment.

Professional Liability (Malpractice)

When you are accused of professional malpractice, the program will vigorously defend you and pay the costs that you become legally responsible for due to allegations of professional negligence. Coverage automatically extends to veterinary-related activities such as speech making, consulting, clinical instructing, and serving as a member of a licensing or veterinary accreditation board.

The PLIT-sponsored professional liability policy provides valuable protection and defense for allegations made against employers for the actions of employees. However, employed veterinarians are not protected by the owner’s policy. Employed veterinarians must carry individual professional liability insurance for protection.

Every veterinarian working at the practice should carry an individual policy. Coverage automatically extends to your non-veterinarian employees.

If you currently carry the highest professional liability coverage plan and desire more protection, purchase excess coverage. Limits are available up to $6,000,000 per claim and up to $8,000,000 annually.
